Last Wednesday we had some work done in Braden's nursery - on the 3rd floor of our townhouse, we have our bedroom and then there is an extra loft/office/nursery space, which is just perfect to have him so close! There was one slight problem... right when you walk in the room, on the left side there was a big cut out window space, that looks over the stairs leading up to the 3rd floor - perfect if you are in there and need to yell at someone down below, not perfect if you are about to put a baby in there who could get curious and jump through the hole! Luckily, we have a super handy friend Wes who knows all about fixing things like this, so he and Matt went to work. They did some demo, framed it in, and then had one of Wes's workers come over to sheetrock, tape, float, texture, and paint it - it made an amazing difference and really helped make the room bigger by adding all that wall space! Here is the before, middle, and after, plus the rest of the nursery!
The beginning - there was a ledge/shelf there that they had already gotten off before I remembered to take a picture!
Tony "Sheetrock" as we call him worked his majic!
Nice, new paint
The finished product, hooray!
We didn't really pick a theme, but this was one of the first pictures I found online and just wanted to go around this and keep it fun and lively!
B's friends waiting for him to come!
Right when all of this was finished Thursday afternoon and Matt and I had finished arranging the room, it was time to run out to dinner to meet some of my best girlfriends... we decided to start with the letter A, and will go thru the alphabet each month when we meet for dinner and try out a new place, which we decided will take at least 2-3 years! We started off eating this month at Arcodoro Pomodoro by the Galleria, and we have already decided next month we will go to BRC on Shephard Drive. I'm lobbying for Chick-fil-A for the next month!
ALL Friday I cleaned, organized, put stuff away, threw stuff out, etc. etc. in preparation for our families coming in town and having Braden's Baby Shower on Saturday - yay! We headed out Saturday morning and were lucky enough to be given the most perfect shower to celebrate our little Chunk on the way! My sister Allison, best friend Jen, and best family friend of 30+ years Pat Crowder hosted the shower at Canopy on Montrose, and it was so stinking cute. The restaurant was perfect since it has a sort of outdoorsy-rainforest theme, so there was this beautiful sliding wall that seperated us from the rest of the restaurant. They went with an Owl theme since I love them - the arrangments, diaper cake, dessert cake, and party favors were right on the money! The food was soooo yummy too - I already can't wait to go back and eat the fried chicken salad! It was great to see so many good friends and Mom's, plus Matt's Mom, sister, sister-in-law, and a few other best friends from Jacksonville made the trip in, which we so appreciated. :) We are beyond blessed with so many wonderful and thoughtful presents we recieved, and I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time to celebrate our soon-to-be son! I don't have that many pictures on my camera, but take a peek at all of their hard work!

Lauren was SUCH a good helper/present opener/trash cleaner!
The lovely hostesses :)
Jen and her Mom, Carolyn, are so creative and artsy!
We're on the home stretch now - only 5 weeks until he's due, but we're hoping he makes an appearance in 4 weeks or so because I'm not sure how much bigger my belly can get! Can't wait to see his little face!
