preparing for chunk

Wow, it's been one busy week!  Let's recap the last 5 days...

Last Wednesday we had some work done in Braden's nursery - on the 3rd floor of our townhouse, we have our bedroom and then there is an extra loft/office/nursery space, which is just perfect to have him so close!  There was one slight problem... right when you walk in the room, on the left side there was a big cut out window space, that looks over the stairs leading up to the 3rd floor - perfect if you are in there and need to yell at someone down below, not perfect if you are about to put a baby in there who could get curious and jump through the hole!  Luckily, we have a super handy friend Wes who knows all about fixing things like this, so he and Matt went to work.  They did some demo, framed it in, and then had one of Wes's workers come over to sheetrock, tape, float, texture, and paint it - it made an amazing difference and really helped make the room bigger by adding all that wall space!  Here is the before, middle, and after, plus the rest of the nursery!

The beginning - there was a ledge/shelf there that they had already gotten off before I remembered to take a picture!

Tony "Sheetrock" as we call him worked his majic!

 Nice, new paint

The finished product, hooray!

We didn't really pick a theme, but this was one of the first pictures I found online and just wanted to go around this and keep it fun and lively!

B's friends waiting for him to come!

Right when all of this was finished Thursday afternoon and Matt and I had finished arranging the room, it was time to run out to dinner to meet some of my best girlfriends... we decided to start with the letter A, and will go thru the alphabet each month when we meet for dinner and try out a new place, which we decided will take at least 2-3 years!  We started off eating this month at Arcodoro Pomodoro by the Galleria, and we have already decided next month we will go to BRC on Shephard Drive.  I'm lobbying for Chick-fil-A for the next month!

ALL Friday I cleaned, organized, put stuff away, threw stuff out, etc. etc. in preparation for our families coming in town and having Braden's Baby Shower on Saturday - yay!  We headed out Saturday morning and were lucky enough to be given the most perfect shower to celebrate our little Chunk on the way!  My sister Allison, best friend Jen, and best family friend of 30+ years Pat Crowder hosted the shower at Canopy on Montrose, and it was so stinking cute.  The restaurant was perfect since it has a sort of outdoorsy-rainforest theme, so there was this beautiful sliding wall that seperated us from the rest of the restaurant.  They went with an Owl theme since I love them - the arrangments, diaper cake, dessert cake, and party favors were right on the money!  The food was soooo yummy too - I already can't wait to go back and eat the fried chicken salad!  It was great to see so many good friends and Mom's, plus Matt's Mom, sister, sister-in-law, and a few other best friends from Jacksonville made the trip in, which we so appreciated. :) We are beyond blessed with so many wonderful and thoughtful presents we recieved, and I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time to celebrate our soon-to-be son! I don't have that many pictures on my camera, but take a peek at all of their hard work!

Lauren was SUCH a good helper/present opener/trash cleaner!

The lovely hostesses :)

Jen and her Mom, Carolyn, are so creative and artsy!

We're on the home stretch now - only 5 weeks until he's due, but we're hoping he makes an appearance in 4 weeks or so because I'm not sure how much bigger my belly can get!  Can't wait to see his little face!

aunt jill camp

Matt was out of town last week for work, so I headed to College Station to see the fam!  Once a week, my Mom will take one of the twins for 'Grammy Camp' time, so last week it was my time for Aunt Jill Camp!  They kept me very busy, and we ventured out to Target, the movies to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the park, the pool, Los Cucos, Chuy's, Chick-fil-A, the Children's Museum, etc.... it was a lot of activity!

Fancy frozen drink at Los Cucos, mmmm!

Are those goggles fierce or what?

I love those boogers!

chunk.

Last Thursday, I had my 32 week/final ultrasound of our little man... crazy to think next time we see him, it will be for real and in person, aahhhhhh!  Matt, my parents, Matt's Mom, and his sister Laura, all ventured out to attend our appointment.  The first time we went in for an ultrasound was to find out the gender, and we had to wait almost 2 hours before I was finally called back - completely obnoxious when everyone under the moon knows you are finding out that morning and is waiting for an update!  So after last experience, I warned them it could be a long wait, and no doubt the same thing happened again - over 3 hours later and we finally got to see Mr. B!  Here are a few pics of our precious boy :)

Sporting a little mullet in the back!

Can you SEE those chubby cheeks?

Profile shot :)

The doctor came in to check out all the measurements, and said we had a 5 lb. baby in there, yikes!  Then we might have snuck open the doctor report he gave us, :) and saw that he was really measuring 5 lb. 3 oz., double yikes!  Needles to say, his nickname has now gone from Peanut to Chunk, and my doctor said we should be ready at least a week early in case he's ready to make an appearance!  The last 7 1/2 months have flown by, so I'm sure these next 6-7 weeks will too!  I can't complain since I'm on summer break and don't exactly have much to do, but I do have to figure out how to write sub plans for the 10-12 weeks I'm planning to take off, and get everything in order since it doesn't look like I'll be starting the school year at all.

Ooops, and talking about school, I just realized I never posted pics of the precious baby shower my class gave me right before school ended!  When they kept asking if we could have one, I really tried to put it off seeing as there is so much to get done at the end of the year, but they literally wouldn't stop harassing me about it!  I finally agreed, and the girls formed a 'PPC' (Party Planning Committee) and they seriously outdid themselves.  We had decorations, food, presents, cake, and games with prizes - it was crazy!  They had a giant cloth diaper that was passed around to the next person who said "baby", diapers filled with lovely melted candy bars that we had to sniff and guess, a baby food eating contest, and a few others silly games - too cute.

 Yummy!

Sash one of the girls made that says 'precious baby boy'

 Sweet kiddos

Please notice how I made them put 'No cuss songs' on the board - ha!

All of the girls got to sit at the 'head' table since they did all the work :)

Serious game time here!

I also just saw this picture which made me crack up... I guess it's the first belly shot I made Matt take... I do remember my jeans were super tight to where I almost couldn't button them and it was only around 6 weeks, but I can't believe I thought I had a belly then, seeing the real belly I have now!
